Credit Games for ChildrenMonday, January 21, 2008 What was your favorite game in childhood? Lego building blocks, or maybe Winter Fantasy Barbie? Not the same thing with the kids in the 21st century! They cannot live without Internet, chocolate chips, Sponge Bob, and...credit cards! While some people have nothing against money games with fake credit cards, the others are highly concerned about the existence of these games on the market. The point is, credit card games do not teach your dear little one about careful spending. So, you may get unexpected results in the future! Actually, kids do like various money games, as they give them an opportunity to act like adults at least for awhile. Though this scene may look quite sweet, just imagine how these kids will handle credit cards when they get out in the real life! Anyway, let's have a look at the money games available for children. Probably, there's no harm in a good old-fashioned Monopoly involving buying, rental, and trading properties. By all means, this is a captivating game that makes you wealthy and prosperous, and there are lots of editions of this game that look extremely attractive for kids. The Disney edition and the Transformers Collector's edition are just some of them. But the latest special edition has something new, i.e. plastics instead of cash. In other words, all you need to do is just swipe off the card. That's ok for adults but when it comes to games for kids, they may take it seriously, and the consequences will be really dramatic. And what do you say to Barbie that carries a tiny pink credit card that allows making purchases with no restrictions. And that's the problem! They start thinking that it's so easy to get whatever they want, and all they need to do is just swipe the card. This way, children buy items for dolls and don't bother their heads with the points like credit card history, credit card limits, and best rates. What for? In other words, kids misunderstand some essential financial points, that's why they wonder why on earth their parents are not so willing to buy another toy for them. Toy manufacturers and credit card issuers may be characterized as people with rich imagination. And when they cooperate, the result of their work is really impressive. Take for example, the Hello Kitty plastic. Though it sounds ridiculous, as a person making credit card deals, must be at least 18. Meantime, the owners of Hello Kitty point out that their target audience is kids of about 10-14 years. This way, they want parents apply for this card in order to teach their little ones about credit. It's an arguable point in regard of those credit card games that teach kids to spend as much as they want. Most parents avoid talking about money with their kids, and it results in credit card misuse and enormous credit card debts. Actually, money is one of those concepts your kid should grasp. You could give a helping hand or stand aside and let your child play the games that do more harm than good. Comments not found
