Credit card deals with sign up bonus

In a world, where there are tons of credit card offers, one cannot imagine a deal without a decent bonus. Card issuers employ expensive marketing strategies to promote their products. Some of them offer points, while others are ready to give out real cash and gifts. In any case, their aim is to attract more consumers and extend their client base to increase profits. But what's in it for you?

Just like any other product, credit card deals need advertising. However, such ads rarely contain informational meaning in them.  They are rather used as a fancy wrapper.

Credit card companies have been trying to make their cards appealing to people with different social and financial status. They've been regularly coming up with new ideas, inventing new schemes to attract customers according to their interests. Hundreds of experts are analyzing current trends in different industries to increase sales.

The first and most popular reward that you can get after being accepted by the credit card issuer is points. Banks and other financial institutions are ready to offer thousands of points upon sign up. They are either points that you can spend on certain consumables or air miles. Air miles are received after being approved and on every purchase made after that. Such program may allow you to be eligible for an airline ticket.

Apart from points, certain companies which offer services besides credit cards are ready to give out bonuses for an affiliated program. A good example of that is Obopay, who specialize in money transfer. They are offering $5 to everyone who signs up for their prepaid MasterCard deal.

However, there is also a downside to such campaigns. First of all, rewards and bonuses are mostly being offered to catch customer's attention. In some cases, this causes confusion and distraction. People often close eyes on card's most important terms and begin comparing bonuses, rather than rates. Moreover, a race for more points or a bigger reward may encourage excessive spending which can result in difficulties paying off the debt.

In addition, card issuers are not really eager or able to give out certain rewards instantly. For example, once you've saved up enough air miles and become eligible for an airline ticket, you may either face difficulties receiving the exact item you are entitled for or it will simply take ages before you will be able to get a hold of it. This has been a common problem for popular flights.

Some dishonest institutions are offering credit card deals with hidden expenses. You might be enjoying your rewards for a year or two, but after that be prepared to pay huge annual fees and unbelievable interest rates. Others may require an extra purchase to be made before obtaining bonus items. Make sure to read carefully terms and conditions of a card before applying for one.

Nevertheless, there are also credit card deals that you can make use of in your advantage. One way to do that is to receive a quick sign up reward and then close the account before the first year is up. This is the case with Business Gold Rewards Card from American Express. You can easily cash in on a quick $150 bonus and cancel it while there are no annual fees.

In any case you've got to remember that the most important criteria when choosing the right card are not the rewards that you will get after being accepted. It's the low rates, fees and customer service that matters most. Do not push yourself into the race for bigger rewards. Be reasonable when applying for a card and look into the future. Once you've narrowed down your choice, pick a card with a bonus that suits your habits most. One last thing to note here is that sign up bonuses do not last forever, even though new bonuses are being offered regularly.

Good news for American borrowers - this Wednesday major U.S. banks began lowering their prime interest rates in tandem with the Fed fund rate reductions. The prime interest rate has dropped to a four-year low 4.0 percent from 4.50 percent. The prime rate is the most common underlying index for most credit cards and other loans. It means that banks and lending companies can lower interest rates to their best customers. JPMorgan Chase and Bank of America were the first to announce lending rate cuts, other banks are likely to follow this trend.
