EMV Chip Technology Credit Cards
The name EMV comes from its developers: Europay, MasterCard® and Visa®. The technology has shown a significant reduction in fraud and now it's become a must have for credit cards. If you've ever stumbled across such cards like smart cards, chip cards, and chip and signature cards, those are all EMV chip technology credit cards.
The EMV chip credit cards have microprocessor chips embedded in them. These chips store and protect cardholder's personal data. When you use a credit card with a chip, you can be asked to verify the purchase with your PIN number or signature. This procedure secures the payment process and reduces the risk of fraud. Also, when you pay with a smart chip credit card, your card stays with you during the whole payment process, providing an additional layer of security.
Chip credit cards are on a different level of security and convenience. They give you confidence and even save your money. The chip cards are widely used in Europe and Canada. You no longer need to go to your issuer and request a new card with a chip and PIN for your travels abroad. They are standard in the U.S now.
