It is the consumer and not the bank that determines the best credit cards

It is not uncommon to see banks displaying large billboard heralding the fact that they give out some of the best credit cards to their customers. However, are they right in deciding if their credit card is the best? In reality, no!

It is not the bank, but the consumers who need to decide if the credit card is best suited for their wallet. Most of the customers take the bank’s words to be the deciding factor, and apply for credit cards without even taking a look at what they are getting themselves into. There have been many instances of customers getting the shock of their lives, when the billing statement lands in their mailbox. The figures they see on the statement, in most cases, have been more than what they were expecting. This is not because they ended up spending frivolously on their cards, but because they did not understand the details of the cards before signing up for it.

It is imperative that every customer reads and understands the terms and conditions on the credit cards before obtaining it. It is very important that the customers have clarity, and know the tenure of the promotional offer. It is also important to know the APY during and after the promotional period ends. The various fees on the credit cards, late payments, and the financial charges also need to be taken into consideration, before deciding if the credit cards you have chosen are the best for you.
